Maldives Ports Authority was established in September 1986 under a Presidential decree, to manage and operate all ports within the country. It is wholly (100%) owned by the government of the Republic of Maldives and functions under the Ministry of Transport and Communication. This Authority is administered and managed by a board whose members are appointed by the President of the Republic of Maldives . On behalf of the board, the Managing Director is in charge of controlling the day to day operations of the port.
